If you view Free Basket from busy 38th Street in Indianapolis, your first impression will most likely be a jumble of red and blue arcs.  If you drive down and park for a closer look, you'll see that those arcs are the imagined trajectories of a ball in play on a basketball court.  Indiana's legendary passion for the game inspired the artists' choice of basketball court imagery.  The sculpture was designed to appear as real as possible in size and detail, inviting visitors to move through and under the steel trajectories, with or without a basketball.  The artists love the location, which allows the piece to be viewed from almost any angle.  Silver Creek Engineering provided structural design services for the project, including the components below:
